Sugar tastes sweet

A sweet tooth comes naturally, which is why we're tempted to treat ourselves. There's room in a healthy diet for the occasional treat.

However, too many candies and soft drinks will fill us up with empty calories – space that would be better suited to more balanced food. Sugar contains energy, but completely lacks nutrients. Many sweets often contain fat, too.

You should only eat a few dozen grams of sugar per day – and half a litre of sugary soft drink will provide you with all of that. Take a look in the fridge and check how much sugar is contained in your favourite yoghurt and other products that you eat daily. You can look for options with less sugar next time you go shopping.
