"The new Fazer Café City-Center is one of the ways we are celebrating the 120th anniversary of Fazer. However, we are not only celebrating history, we are also continuously moving forward in the spirit of Karl Fazer. Fazer has always deemed high quality of products, premium services and great taste important. This is also apparent to our customers at our newest cafeteria," says Päivi Harmaakorpi, Managing Director of Fazer Restaurants.
Fazer Café City-Center provides a carefully specified range of Fazer's best products: those good old classic patisserie and cakes, delicious bread products, ice cream, salad portions, chocolate and different beverages. Breakfast by customer selection is a new addition. Breakfast items and other Fazer delicacies can also be conveniently purchased to go and enjoyed at work or home, for example.
Fazer Café City-Center is situated at street level of the new shopping mall, on the Saarinen garden by the busiest walking route. The cafeteria has 48 seats and there is a spacious covered terrace outside the cafeteria. The interior decoration is stylish, comfortable and welcoming. The colours emphasise the dark brown and white wood, and the wall-height windows offer a view of the urban hustle and bustle. Gullstén-Inkinen Design & Architecture was responsible for the interior decoration of Fazer Café City-Center.
"I am proud of the fact that Fazer's brilliant cafeteria tradition is being continued and updated in Helsinki. If my grandfather's father, Karl Fazer, were establishing his first cafeteria in Helsinki right now, it might well be like Fazer Café City-Center: a modern meeting point that provides great, superior taste, just like the traditional Karl Fazer Café has done for 120 years now," says Majlen Fazer.
Fazer Café City-Center serves urban residents/visitors from early morning to late evening. The cafeteria is open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. – 11 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
New tea room and an á la carte range in the F8 restaurant area
The F8 restaurant area, launched at Stockmann in the Helsinki city centre in spring 2009, is a unit including restaurants, cafeterias, bars and enjoyment for all the senses in the best location in town. It offers something unique for everyone, including daily meals and gourmet events from early morning until late at night during Stockmann’s opening hours.
F8 Thé is a new addition. It is a tea room with a diverse selection and expert service. "Drinking tea has clearly become more popular recently. We want to provide Helsinki residents with the spirit of a genuine tea room and offer a place where they can enjoy a comforting milieu and take a break," says Sauli Korvenoja, Development Manager at Fazer Restaurants.
F8 Thé is an atmospheric meeting point above the rooftops of Helsinki. A range of the world's best tea is available, where black, white, green and flavoured tea and rooibois and popular tea types and specialities constitute an interesting entity. With tea, you can enjoy small salty or sweet delicacies with a brandy.
The table serving restaurants at the F8 restaurant area have also been updated. The previous F8 Fine and Easy have been combined into a new F8 Tema restaurant that is stylish and convenient. The menus are based on several themes that emphasise quality and that are suitable for different moments of enjoyment alone, with a friend, a group or with your family.
The themes "Nordic Seasons", "Classic", "Fresh", "Fast", "Spicy", "Sweet" and "Fazer" indicate the different tastes. The diverse menus include classics and more exotic dishes and combinations that are finished off with an impressive display and interesting nuances.
Fazer Restaurants, responsible for Fazer's open sector cafeteria and restaurant operations, is part of the business of Fazer Food Services. Fazer Restaurants has about 50 cafeterias and restaurants in department stores, shopping malls and different property (for various celebrations and events) in Finland and Sweden. In the heart of Helsinki, in addition to Fazer Café City Center and the F8 restaurant area, Fazer has a cafeteria in the Forum shopping mall and the traditional Karl Fazer Café on Kluuvikatu.
The turnover of Fazer Restaurants in Finland in 2010 was over EUR 40 million, and the company has about 650 employees.
