Place small cards on the buffet tables to show which dishes are low-lactose, lactose-free or gluten-free.

• At the planning stage, consider whether the dishes will continue to look appealing the whole time food is being served. Serve cold dishes cold and hot dishes hot.
• Arrange the buffet table so that lots of people can take food at the same time. This will make it easier for guests to move around and means that people will not have to queue. Choose suitable servers for different kinds of dishes.
• Serve foods that are easy to put on your plate. Cut bread, vegetables and fruit into slices.
• Make sure there is always something to drink and enough glasses – especially in the summer. If you serve alcohol, there should also be non-alcoholic options to accompany the food and for toasts.
